After carefully describing the nature of the work, providing the make and model number of the unit to be installed, telling M & S that the electricity was in place and simply needed to be fish taped about 3 -4 feet to the range hood, letting M & S know that the unit was to be ductless (not connected to a vent), that the unit would be delivered to the work site on Oct. 19, 2016, and telling M & S that I had a copy of the manufacturer's installation instructions if they required it, and that I would like an estimate to install the Island Mount Range Hood, Michael and Sons gave me an appointment for Monday, Oct 17, 2016 for someone to come to my house to survey and to provide me with an estimate.

I was told the rep would arrive between 12 and 4 pm on the 17th. I waited from 12 Noon until the rep arrived approximately 3 hours later, at which time he told me he did not do handyman work, that the only thing he did was to connect wiring to the range hood after it was installed. He told me they would have to get someone to come out who did the handyman work and then they could provide me with an estimate. Seeing that I was really upset with how Michael and Sons handled my work request he left the job site and I had a wasted date because Michael and Sons apparently uses people to interact with the public who truly do not understand the nature of some of their services and apparently aren't encouraged to ask someone when they do not understand.

In spite of all of the advertisements that I have seen regarding Michael and Sons I will never contact you again for anything.

I am shocked that a company of your stature provides such shoddy response to a well defined service request. I was prepared to pay the non-refundable service fee to acquire the estimate, being assured by the rep I spoke with on the phone about my requirement, even though the fee would not be applied to the actual work cost should I have used you for the job. If I am asked by anyone about Michael and Sons I will relate this interaction with your personnel as described above. Some one who manages M & S personnel who talk with potential customers needs to be talked to with some real and meaningful dialogue.

Lowe's personnel told me that Michael and Sons installs range hoods for them. I wonder if they are aware of my type of situation with your people.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $120.
